The College of Military Chiropractic Physicians was established in 2005 to serve and represent chiropractic physicians working in Department of Defense (DoD) and Veteran Affairs (VA) treatment facilities. It focuses the attention of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) on the unique aspects of practice by the nearly 100 Doctors of Chiropractic (DC) meeting our nation's military and federal medical needs throughout the world. Through the efforts of the CMCP, improved communication channels, which include newsletters and web based informatics, have been established. The CMCP has also been successful in obtaining modifications to annual ACA dues.

The CMCP is the only organization in the chiropractic profession dedicated to serving physicians working in the DoD and VA community. While DC's comprise a small percentage of physicians in the federal community, they serve an important, and expanding, role in management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

The CMCP also promotes the advancement of chiropractic principles in military/federal practice and institutions. An annual conference, sponsored by the CMCP, provides continuing education relative to the distinctive requirements of practicing in the VA and DoD environments. The organization supports research by member providers, and encourages participation in research forums and conferences.
